Higher Ground House
The Higher Ground House is located at 12 East Pine St in Georgetown DE. It was opened in November 2022 by the founders of Higher Ground Outreach Inc to address the need for a safe place for Georgetown’s homeless and vulnerable to seek help and obtain vital services during the daytime hours. The Higher Ground House is an open day program for anyone who is in need of or seeking a safe place, a warm meal, clean clothes, programs to help them on their journey, or just a friend to talk to. It is designed to fill the gaps that most individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity may find themselves in after seeking help with state or other local programs. Higher Ground House is here to help those on their path with kindness and compassion.

Who can get services
Everyone is welcome at the House. On your first visit we will complete an intake of basic needs and information so we know how best to assist you.
Do you take donations?
Yes! We accept donations from 9am-6pm on a daily basis.
What donations do you accept?
As of Spring 2023 the House is accepting:
CLOTHING-
New and gently used Men and Womens this includes socks, boxers, jeans, coats, shoes, boots, gloves, hats, shirts, and vests
HYGIENE PRODUCTS-
Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Body Wash, Deodorant, Lotion, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Q-tips, Towels, Washcloths, Sanitary Items, Razors, Shaving cream, After shave, Nail Files, Fingernail Clippers, First Aid Supplies and Cotton Balls.
FOOD-
We are accepting any food that can be eaten by microwave or crockpot.
Sign up for the Crock Pot Brigade HERE to help us provide hot meal everyday for the most vunerable in opur county.
What else can I donate
Higher Ground Houses expenses to remain open 6 days a week average $2500 a month. Please consider a one time donation or monthly pledge to help off set our operational costs.
You can also donate your time by emailing april@highergroundoutreachinc.org to find the best day and time to be a part of the daily operations at the Higher Ground House.

House Dining Room
Upstairs in the Higher Ground House we have a dining room with a coffee bar, dining table, warming station, and refrigerator. A hot meal is always ready whenever anyone arrives. Our dining room feeds 40-60 people a day.
The Higher Ground House has some very rich history and is on the Historic Records as the Joseph Adams House. Built in 1863 as one of the first official buildings in Georgetown we are ecstatic to bring this building to life and work with our members such a prevalent building.
Our Office
In the heart of our building is our office, it is always open to our members and anyone who seeks help. Sometimes a meeting room, sometimes training room, sometimes a place of discussion or conflict resolution. No matter what the office is used for it is always a place of kindness and compassion. A Place where Love reigns and help can be found.

In our office you can find help if help is what you seek. many of the communities help can be found on our bulletin board or counter. If you are a facility and would like your information displayed please stop by anytime during open hours.
Our Little Library
Every book displayed is donated or purchased with our members in mind. Every book is available to borrow, We encourage everyone to explore our library for a title that grabs your soul, peeks your interest or just one to pass the time with. Knowledge is power and our library is designed to empower and inspire all who enter our doors.
